Hannover Messe 2025

Hannover Messe is the most important international platform for all technologies related to industrial transformation. 

The Fraunhofer EMI presents innovative peeling-based recycling processes for continuous fiber reinforced plastics at the booth of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (Hall 2, Stand B24). In this sustainable and value-preserving process, the single layers of the material are separated from each other in a preserving manner using thermo-mechanical loads, allowing the recovery of directly reusable semi-finished products. This strategy maximizes the mechanical and economic value of the recyclate while simultaneously minimizing the necessary process energy and thus the process costs.

Four examples of applications of peeling-based recycling are presented by Fraunhofer EMI at the Hannover Messe:

• Patch recovery from thermoplastic composite production offcuts
• Direct carbon fiber roving recovery from a wound structure (see video below)
• Thermoplastic carbon fiber tape recovery from wound structures
• Delamination-on-Demand of thermoplastic composites
